Install Fetchit on every computer that answers your business's phone. It takes a few minutes per computer, and each one needs to be signed in to your organization once.
Before you start
- A Windows or Mac computer. Fetchit runs on Windows 10 or later, and on Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 13 Ventura or later. Macs with Intel processors are not supported.
- A Fetchit account in your organization. If you have not been invited yet, ask the person who manages Fetchit at your business. See Your team and computers.
Install Fetchit
Download it
Go to the download page and choose Download for Windows or Download for Mac. The card for the computer you are on is marked "Recommended for this computer".Run the installer
On Windows, open the downloaded installer. It installs Fetchit in one step. On a Mac, open the disk image and drag Fetchit into your Applications folder, then open it from there.Sign in
Fetchit opens a "Welcome to Fetchit" window. Choose Sign in, and your web browser opens.Choose your organization
In the browser, sign in if you are asked to, then choose the organization to connect this computer to. When you see "Device connected", you can close the browser tab. You're ready
Back on the computer, a message says "Fetchit is running in the background." Popups will now appear here when your phone rings.
Where Fetchit lives
Fetchit runs quietly in the background. Its icon sits in the system tray on Windows, and in the menu bar on a Mac. Click it for these options:
| Menu item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Do Not Disturb | Holds back popups until you turn it off. It reads "Do Not Disturb (on)" while active. |
| Call History and Reports | Opens your recent calls and call reports. See Call history and reports. |
| Check for Updates | Checks for a new version straight away. |
| Settings | Changes how popups look and behave. See Settings. |
| Exit | Closes Fetchit. Popups stop until you open it again. |
Fetchit starts automatically when you sign in to your computer, so there is nothing to open each morning.
If your business software runs in a web browser
When your client records are in web-based software, Fetchit opens them through its browser extension. Add it on each computer:
If you forget, Fetchit takes you to it the first time a call needs it. Business software that runs on your computer rather than in a browser doesn't need the extension.
Installing on many computers
If your IT team installs software for the whole business, the Windows card on the download page also offers an MSI package for Group Policy or Intune. Computers installed that way are updated by your IT team rather than updating themselves.
Updates
Fetchit keeps itself up to date. It checks for new versions when it starts and every hour after that, downloads them in the background, and installs them the next time Fetchit restarts.
Uninstalling
On Windows, remove Fetchit from Settings > Apps (or Add or remove programs). On a Mac, choose Exit from the Fetchit menu, then move Fetchit from your Applications folder to the Trash.
