When your phone rings, Fetchit shows a popup in the corner of the screen on every computer at your business, so whoever answers already knows who is calling.
The kinds of popup
A caller you know
Fetchit
Jane Dolittle
(555) 010-4242
A blue popup means the number matched a client in your records. It shows the client's name and number. Click it to open their record in your business software.
If more than one client has that number, clicking it searches your business software for the number, so you can pick the right client from its results.
A caller Fetchit doesn't know
Fetchit
WIRELESS CALLER
(555) 010-0000
A red popup means the number didn't match anyone. It shows the caller ID and number. Click it to start a new client in your business software. Fetchit also copies the number, so you can paste it straight in. Its Create client button does the same, and Copy number only copies the number. Either button closes the popup.
If you expected a match, see A caller shows up red.
A missed call
Fetchit
SMITH JOHN
(555) 010-7777
An amber popup is a call nobody answered, so you can call them back. Clicking it does nothing; it's a reminder.
A message from Fetchit
Fetchit
Fetchit is running in the background.
A grey popup is Fetchit telling you something, like that it has started, or that it couldn't open a record.
Working with popups
- Close a popup with the X, or by swiping it away.
- Several calls at once stack up in a column, oldest first.
- Hover over a popup to keep it on screen. The ring around the X counts down how long it has left, and pauses while your pointer is on it.
- Once you've opened a record from a popup, it closes by itself. If Dismiss globally is on, it closes on every other computer too, so nobody else answers the same call.
Controlling popups
In Settings, under Popups, you can choose:
- Popup duration: 5 seconds, 20 seconds, 60 seconds, or never close by themselves. The default is 20 seconds.
- Popup location: which corner of your main screen they appear in. The default is bottom right.
- Dismiss globally: whether opening a popup closes it on every computer. On by default.
Do Not Disturb
Choose Do Not Disturb from the Fetchit menu in the system tray (on a Mac, the menu bar) to stop popups for a while, for example during a meeting. It clears the popups on screen and holds back new ones, and reads Do Not Disturb (on) until you choose it again. Restarting Fetchit turns it off.
Opening records
How a popup opens a record depends on your business software:
- Software you use in a web browser opens in your browser, through the Fetchit browser extension. If the browser isn't open, Fetchit opens it.
- Software installed on your computer opens in that program directly, with no extension needed.
